Suzuki sends goods from the Japan warehouse to Vietnam in 2 ways: air shipping or sea shipping. Customers choose the international shipping method when placing a proxy buying order, bidding, or creating a Ship-for-me order.
Comparison of air shipping and sea shipping
| Criteria | Air shipping | Sea shipping |
|---|---|---|
| International shipping fee | 195,000 VND/kg | 75,000 VND/kg |
| Vietnam warehouse receiving the goods | Hanoi warehouse | Ho Chi Minh City warehouse |
| Estimated time | Usually about 1–2 weeks from when the goods arrive at the Japan warehouse to the Vietnam warehouse | Total time is usually about 1–2 months |
| Shipping schedule | Weekly shipment cutoff | Containers are loaded in batches, about 2 months per shipment |
| Suitable when | You need to receive the goods faster | You want to save more on shipping fees and can wait longer |
How international shipping fees are calculated
International shipping fees are calculated based on the actual weight when the goods arrive at the Japan warehouse. The formula is: actual weight × unit price of the shipping method, then rounded up to the nearest thousand VND.
- Air shipping: 195,000 VND/kg, goods arrive at the Hanoi warehouse.
- Sea shipping: 75,000 VND/kg, goods arrive at the Ho Chi Minh City warehouse.
- The weight, unit price, and total shipping fee are displayed in the "Items in warehouse" ("Hàng trong kho") section on the Japan Warehouse page.
- The parcel timeline usually displays: Arrived at Japan warehouse → International shipping in progress → Arrived at Vietnam warehouse → Delivery in progress → Completed.
How to choose a shipping method
- Choose air shipping if you prioritize time and want the goods to arrive at the Vietnam warehouse faster.
- Choose sea shipping if you prioritize lower fees and can wait longer.
- For bulky goods, special goods, or goods with risks related to the shipping method, Suzuki can check and notify you of a suitable option on a case-by-case basis.
- When placing a proxy buying order or bidding, you choose the international shipping method as air or sea during the ordering process.
- When creating a Ship-for-me order, you choose air or sea in the "Create Ship-for-me order" ("Tạo đơn ship hộ") form.
- 1
Track goods at the Japan Warehouse
Go to the Japan Warehouse page to view "Goods arriving soon at the warehouse" ("Hàng sắp tới kho"), "Items in warehouse" ("Hàng trong kho"), and "Goods shipped out of the warehouse" ("Hàng xuất kho"). When the goods have been warehoused, you can view the weight and shipping fee information.
- 2
Receive the shipping fee payment request
When the goods have left Japan, Suzuki sends a shipping fee payment request with the content "Shipping payment batch …" ("Thanh toán vận chuyển đợt …") in "Payment management" ("Quản lý thanh toán").
- 3
Confirm delivery in Vietnam
Before paying the shipping fee, you need to confirm the delivery address and delivery method. The international shipping fee must be paid before the goods are delivered.
- 4
Receive goods in Vietnam
You can choose Viettel Post, 247 Express, express delivery, order Grab, or come to the warehouse to pick up the goods yourself. The delivery fee within Vietnam is paid by you to the delivery provider when receiving the goods.
Surcharges and goods that need checking
Some special items may have separate shipping surcharges, such as phones, computers, alcohol, or tobacco. Bulky goods sent by air shipping may also incur surcharges. Suzuki will notify you when checking or when the customer asks about a specific item.
